"Stacey & Kelly, an enormous thank you for your work on our wedding day. We enjoyed having you take all of our photos. You made us feel comfortable and had fun with us too. It was a lot of people to work around and it was pulled off and executed perfectly. We love the pictures and video. We received many compliments, but they belong to you. Thank you!"

After the music stops and the guests have gone, all you have left are your memories and photographs.

Make sure you get the highest quality photographs to preserve your memories. Hire experienced, professional wedding photographers who will make your wedding look even more grand and beautiful than you thought possible. DO NOT trust your precious wedding memories to an amateur.

How do you choose the right photographer(s) for your wedding? This is one of the most important decisions you will have to make in planning your wedding. Here is a list of important questions to ask.

Questions to Ask When Interviewing Photographers for Your Wedding

(Discovery Bay Studios answers in parenthesis)

* What type of photography do you mostly shoot? (We specialize in wedding & engagement photography)

* Can I see complete weddings you have done recently? Not just a few sample images? (Yes, you can see ALL of our complete weddings here)

* Are you a full time photographer or do you have another job? (Full time)

* Do you have wedding photography insurance? (Yes- Harford Insurance Company)

* Can you provide testimonials from recent wedding clients? (Yes - here)

* Do you have the latest wedding specific equipment, cameras and lenses along with backups? (Yes – the very best!)

* How will you cover the bride and groom getting ready in separate locations? (See next question)

* Will there be one shooter or two? Is the second shooter just an assistant or also an experienced wedding photographer? (At least two shooters, both experienced)

* How soon will I get my materials after the wedding? (Online images & video within a couple of weeks)

* Do I get the “negatives” with all rights to my images? (Yes)

* How will you dress for the event? (Stealth-like, normally in black)

* Do you include a music fusion video in your package? (Yes)

* Do you design your own wedding books? (Yes)

* What is the deposit charge to secure the date? ($1,000 deposit, balance due two weeks before wedding)

* Do you offer a free online gallery to share my wedding photos and video? (Yes)

* How do you safeguard my precious wedding images? (At least three backups including offsite)

* Are there additional costs for prints, or rights to the images? (No, it’s included)

* How many locations are included? (All necessary - Bridal prep, church, reception, etc)

* Most important - Do you "click" with your photographer(s)? They will be with you all day so you want to make sure you like them! (Let's meet and we'll find out!)

Tips to Help with Your Wedding Photography

During your wedding day try to ignore the camera and act natural. We will let you know if we want you to look our way and smile. Most people like candid shots. But there is a time for some posed portraits too.

Brides should hold the bouquet at waist height with some separation of the fingers. Use good posture with elbows out from body and hands to your waist if you’re not holding anything. Tilt your head at a different angle than the shoulders. Remember to moisten your lips periodically.

Show the sides of your hands, not the backs. You can also raise your wrists slightly to add a gently curving line where the wrist and hand join. Try not to pose with your hands straight at your sides, remember, elbows out. It can also be nice to give some shape to your body by creating an “S” shape to your form.

Feel free to get creative and even try some dramatic or crazy poses. We’re open for anything. A lot of times it’s the unusual pose that makes for the best photographs. We like to have fun too, so relax and together we’ll get photos you’ll treasure forever.

Please notify your wedding coordinator that it is important to feed the photographers at the same time as the bride and groom. Your photographers work hard all day and this is the only time they will have a chance to eat and not miss something important!
